About this event

Explore the ins and outs of getting a new idea for social and civic change ready and rolling. Discover your options for formalizing your venture. Is nonprofit incorporation the best route, partnership with an existing agency, or is fiscal sponsorship a better solution? Assess whether you’ve got what it takes to make sure your start-up will have real and sustaining impact.

A limited number of one-on-one meetings will follow this workshop with slots available upon request.  To secure a 20 minute slot, please email Leanne Blackwell at blackwell@callutheran.edu to confirm your appointment.

The workshop will be held, Wednesday, March 28, 10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m., with 20 minute one-on-one meetings to follow, ending at 12:30 p.m.

Sheri Dunn Berry

Sheri Dunn Berry serves as the Director of Programs at Community Partners.  She has extensive experience within the complexities of urban environments and the nonprofit sector - around public policy, knowledge-sharing, and shaping organizational effectiveness -- is uniquely suited to her role as our director of programs. Sheri leads and oversees the success of the fiscal sponsorship program, coordinates our partnerships with grantmakers, and much more. She is the former executive director of the Los Angeles United Methodist Urban Foundation and previously served in policy and development positions at RCNO Training Center, Children Now and the Urban Strategies Council in Oakland, where she went on to become the executive director of the National Community Building Network. Sheri currently serves on the board of directors for PolicyLink and on the investment committee for the board of the California-Pacific United Methodist Foundation. She holds an undergraduate degree in public affairs from UC Berkeley and a Master's in public administration from USC.
