About this event

This event has been postponed to June 22, 2020.

In order to minimize the risk of COVID-19, the Center for Nonprofit Leadership will be postponing upcoming workshops and/or transitioning our face-to-face learning opportunities to webinar format. While our campuses and centers are not in areas that have had community transmission of the virus, this will help us reduce the chances of it occurring. If you are registered to attend an upcoming workshop, you will receive direct notification that the event has postponed or modified.  Credits and refunds will be available, upon request.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please email Dena Jenson at djenson@callutheran.edu.

Beyond Names & Numbers: Building a Diverse, Inclusive and  Effective Board of Directors

This highly interactive, intensive day will help nonprofit leaders build and sustain Boards of Directors that are comprised of a diverse group of people AND fully value and include those people in every aspect of Board work and organizational life.  Topics to be addressed include:
  • Recruiting and supporting an effective, inclusive and diverse board of directors.
  • Bringing young people in as board members in authentic ways.
  • Ensuring our board reflects and represents the diversity of those we serve

Presented by: Jarrod Schwartz & Judy Guillermo-Newton, Just Communities

Who Is Just Communities?

Just Communities is a nonprofit organization that advances justice by building leadership, fostering change, and dismantling all forms of prejudice, discrimination, and oppression. Established in 2001 as The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) of California’s Central Coast, Just Communities works with individuals, organizations and communities in Santa Barbara, Ventura, and San Luis Obispo Counties in order to create an equitable and inclusive Central Coast where all people are connected, respected, and valued. Just Communities works to ensure that every school, organization and community in California’s Central Coast is a place of opportunity, not a place of limitation.
