Awards for Excellence in Clinical Supervision 2017

The Awards for Excellence in Clinical Supervision were given to Dr. Michael J. Gerson, PhD and Dr. Jennifer Lewis, PhD.

Graduate students are pleased to present Michael J. Gerson, PhD with the award for the 2017 PsyD Supervisor of the Year. Dr. Gerson has provided clinical supervision to Cal Lutheran MFT graduate students since 2000 and to PsyD students since the program began in 2010.  He is a tenured Associate Professor of psychology at Cal Lutheran who is interested in contemporary clinical applications of systems theory as well as the interface between neuroscience and psychanalytic theory. Students describe him as knowledgeable, insightful, kind, caring, and present.

Jennifer Lewis, PhD was chosen by graduate students as the 2017 MFT Clinical Supervisor of the Year. She is a licensed clinical psychologist who has had advanced training in topics that are struggled with by some in the LGBTQ community, such as coming out for the first time. Other areas of focus are men’s issues, sexual desire, and intimacy. Students describe Dr. Lewis as a humanistic therapist who provides a safe space that facilitates students’ learning by being pushed out of their comfort zone.
