Upgrading to Flashlight 2.0 Surveying Application

Volume 4, No. 5

Recently ISS announced that the version of Flashlight, to which we currently subscribe, will not be accessible after March 31, 2010. Flashlight account holders are encouraged to archive surveys they wish to preserve so they can reconstruct them in version 2.0. Directions for archiving were sent previsouly; however, should you need another copy or other assistance, please contact the Help Desk at (805) 493-3698 or helpdesk@callutheran.edu. Version 2.0 is now available, and this time frame allows for a few days of use overlap with the first version.

Special Note:  The first training class for using Flashlight 2.0 has been scheduled for Thursday, April 1, 2010, from 10 – 11:30 a.m. in Library 7 (a PC lab). Register for the class at  http://skylight.wsu.edu/s/fe0f3913-fcb8-4be1-a356-78655573ea04.srv

This Issue’s Techno Term:
Term:  WYSIWYG
Definition:  An acronym that stands for “What You See Is What You Get," and when pronounced correctly it sounds like "wihzeewig."  The term refers to appearance of the final output of data created by software; e.g., Microsoft Word is a WYSIWYG-type editor because the print screen mode accurately displays how the printed version of a document will appear.
Example in a sentence:   The WYSIWYG interface of Flashlight 2.0 provides a more pleasing and easy to read rendering of online surveys.
