Dear Cal Lutheran Community,
I am writing to let you know that a residential student tested positive for COVID-19 during our planned testing of all arriving residential students. The student may have been contagious while on our Thousand Oaks campus.
The student, who does not have any symptoms, was tested on Wednesday. We received the result this morning, notified the student and arranged for the student to move into an isolation room on campus, as outlined in our university plans. Staff will deliver meals to and check daily on the well-being of the student.
Health Services has conducted contact tracing and is notifying anyone who had close contact with the student and needs to be tested and quarantined. For details on our confidential contact-tracing process, click here. We have rooms set aside to quarantine residential students as part of our plans.
We will do everything we can to support this student and anyone else in our community who is affected.
The limited number of students who have been moving into their own single bedrooms in our residence halls on a staggered schedule this week have been doing a wonderful job wearing face coverings, physically distancing and following the other protocols in the Cal Lutheran Compact. Thank you for all you are doing to keep our community safe and healthy.
We will continue to monitor all developments, take action to protect the health of our community and keep you informed through emails and updates to our KNOW site. We will notify the campus community about COVID-19 cases if the timeline indicates there is a chance that the people were contagious when they were at Cal Lutheran locations. Please follow all of the directives and guidance on our KNOW site to protect yourself and others.
If you have any questions, email email@example.com.
