Health Protocols for Spring
Dear Cal Lutheran Community,
With staffing levels increasing this week and many traditional undergraduate students and faculty members scheduled to begin attending class in person next week, I want to share some of the additional measures we have taken for spring semester as part of our slow and cautious reopening plan:
- Increased surveillance testing: We have scheduled ongoing surveillance COVID-19 testing for residential students, commuter students attending classes in person, student-athletes, and coaches throughout the semester. For details, visit the Testing page on our KNOW site.
- Additional classroom protocols: Many faculty members are scheduled to begin teaching students in outdoor classrooms and a few indoor labs and studios beginning Tuesday, February 16. Facilities staff will begin the semester cleaning and disinfecting outdoor classrooms and checking to make sure their heaters, lights and technology are working between classes. They will review and update cleaning and inspection protocols as necessary. HEPA filters have been added to the labs and studios. Temporary bathrooms have been installed near the seven new outdoor classrooms, and students and faculty assigned to the original three outdoor classrooms again will have card access to nearby buildings with bathrooms.
- Expanded Compact: The Cal Lutheran Compact everyone is required to sign before coming on campus during spring semester has been expanded. One of the additions is a section on off-campus expectations, including adherence to all public health guidelines regarding gatherings. Please read and follow the new Compact in its entirety.
We will continue to follow all of the policies and procedures from fall semester, including the Daily Health Check. Additional information can be found on our KNOW site, including pages on the following topics:
- Cleaning & Disinfecting
- Contact Tracing
- Reporting Cases
- Student Life and Housing
- Travel Policy
- Travel-Related Quarantine

----------
