Vaccine Eligibility in California (and Mobile Testing Trailer at Thousand Oaks Campus on April 19)

Dear Cal Lutheran Community,

As you may be aware, the State of California has opened COVID vaccine eligibility to all Californians 16 and up starting today, April 15, 2021.  California Lutheran University has been and continues to be a strong advocate of inoculating the campus community, and all members of the community (staff, faculty, and students) are strongly encouraged to make a vaccine appointment as soon as possible.

Vaccine appointments can be scheduled at myturn.ca.gov.  Although appointments do get booked quickly, I am aware that new appointments appear regularly, and through persistent monitoring of the site individuals will be able to eventually book an appointment.

Additionally, the CDC website regarding COVID vaccines provides both an easy-to-use vaccine finder based on zip code, and information regarding the safety of the vaccines.

Individuals from out of state that book a local appointment should bring their state ID as well as their student ID to their vaccine appointment.

For Southern California students, Cal Lutheran Health Services is attempting to provide a vaccination site on campus.  If that initiative is successful, additional instructions will be provided.  Students are encouraged to seek an appointment at the links above, however, instead of waiting for an on-campus clinic.

Even during this period of vaccine availability for all Californians, Cal Lutheran still encourages unvaccinated individuals to undergo testing for the virus.  Accordingly, the County of Ventura COVID-19 Mobile Testing Unit is scheduled to return to the Thousand Oaks campus on Monday, April 19, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  It will be positioned in the Administration Parking Lot.

Testing is provided at no cost. Individuals will need to provide a driver’s license and should also bring their CLU ID if the address on their license is outside of Ventura County.

All are welcome, and we particularly encourage commuter students and residential students to take advantage of this opportunity. All students who submit a COVID test result will be given a Cal Lutheran T-shirt or Five07 gift card. You don’t need to have symptoms or exposure to be tested.
