Cal Lutheran Protocol Regarding COVID, Spring 2023
Cal Lutheran Community,
The following brief message is presented regarding Spring 2023 COVID protocol. Please note that overall guidance for Cal Lutheran is articulated at the Cal Lutheran Know Page, and that guidance remains unchanged for spring terms/semesters.
A few specific items of interest are noted as follows, however.
California COVID Leave –California-mandated special COVID sick leave expired on December 31. In 2023, employees who either test positive for COVID or have COVID symptoms will be required to utilize sick leave for time off.
County Community Levels – As demonstrated on the CDC COVID-19 Community Level website:
- Ventura County Community Level is Medium
- Los Angeles County Community Level is Medium
- Alameda County Community Level is Medium
At medium levels, please note that the CDC recommends wearing a mask following COVID exposure (or symptoms); wearing a mask if at high risk for severe illness; and wearing a mask in indoor spaces as a precaution.
Stocked mask distribution stations remain in all classroom buildings, and organizers of university events (meetings, gatherings, concerts, etc.) may require masks for their event.
COVID Test – Individuals returning to campus to resume teaching, working, or learning are encouraged to take a COVID test prior to return. Individuals with a positive test or with COVID, cold, or flu symptoms are required to stay home, report their positive test via the KNOW website, and make appropriate arrangements with either supervisors (employees) or faculty (students).
Free at-home COVID tests remain available from the Federal Government.
Vaccination Clinic – As discussed in Melinda Roper’s email on 1/10/2023, Ventura County Public Health will be hosting a vaccination clinic on the Thousand Oaks Campus on Wednesday, January 18 from 12:00 pm to 3 pm at Ullman 100/101. Please contact covidquestions@callutheran.edu regarding any questions or comments regarding this message.
As has been stated in past messages, we will monitor appropriate federal, state and county guidelines and continue to make changes to this protocol if relevant guidelines suggest such changes are prudent.
