What is PRME1

Launched at the 2007 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in Geneva, the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) initiative is the largest organized relationship between the United Nations and business schools worldwide. PRME's vision is to realize the Sustainable Development Goals through responsible management education. The mission of PRME is to transform business and management education, and develop the responsible leaders of tomorrow.

PRME at Cal Lutheran1

The School of Management vision guides us when we assign priorities for choosing what issues to address. The vision helps us identify best practices and support new initiatives. Raising awareness about the importance of social responsibility and Triple Bottom Line accountability is an essential component of educating responsible leaders who are well prepared for making decisions in the complex global business environment. PRME provides us with a comprehensive framework for outlining our goals and developing a course of action. Read our first PRME Progress Report, 2015-2017 to learn more about our projects and activities here. Students in all School of Management Programs, graduate and undergraduate, are eligible and encouraged to participate - all disciplines have something to contribute to responsible management!

What are Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)1

The Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. These 17 Goals work in the spirit of partnership and pragmatism to make the right choices now to improve life, in a sustainable way, for future generations.

Sustainable Development Goals

SDGs and Business1

Regardless of their size or industry sector, all companies can contribute to the SDGs. While the scale and scope of these global goals is unprecedented, the fundamental ways that business can contribute remain unchanged. The UN Global Compact asks companies to first do business responsibly and then pursue opportunities to solve societal challenges through business innovation and collaboration.

Global challenges – ranging from climate, water and food crises, to poverty, conflict and inequality – are in need of solutions that the private sector can deliver, representing a large and growing market for business innovation. In the rush to transform business models and systems for the future, integrity and values will have a huge role to play.
