LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Cal Lutheran women’s soccer churned out a 3-2 road victory over Occidental on Saturday morning to stretch their win streak to seven, also marking the fifth consecutive game in which the Regals have scored three or more goals.

Defender Stephanie Gilbert scored the first goal of the contest for CLU in the 13th minute, immediately after Occidental goalie Tayler Renshaw saved a shot fired off by Taylor Will.

The Tigers would equalize on an Elissa Minimishin goal on an assist from Julie Khil in the 21st minute.

Fortunately for the Regals, the hot stretch for senior Kristina Hulse continued today as she netted her 11th goal of the season, surpassing her previous season best that came her freshman year with 10, while maintaining the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) scoring lead. In the 32nd minute she received the ball from Brittany Eremita to give CLU a 2-1 advantage entering the break.

Just three minutes into the second half Bailey Marquez cleared the ball across the field to assist Will in scoring the game-winning goal.

At the 62:42 mark Occidental’s Taryn Ng scored in unassisted fashion from 30 yards out on a free-kick to pull the Black and Orange within a goal.

The CLU defense stepped up over the final 28 minutes to keep the Tigers from knotting the game, securing their ninth SCIAC win of the season.

Overall the Tigers outshot the Regals 14-13 with eight and six on target, respectively. Cal Lutheran earned eight corner kicks while allowing none today.

Leading the offense for the Regals was Will who took five shots including three on goal. Marquez was the only other player with more than one opportunity as she took a trio of attempts of her own. Gilbert, Hulse and Bianca Deardorff were each responsible for one shot on goal apiece.

Kristin Bailey played the entire 90 minute game in front of the CLU goal, recording six saves. Her counterpart, Renshaw, had a total of three saves during the contest for Oxy.

Occidental (3-8-2, 2-7-2 SCIAC) was paced by Minimishin who took a game-high seven shots with five on target. Khil had a hat-trick and Michaela Tsuha took two shots for the Tigers.

Cal Lutheran (13-3, 9-1 SCIAC) will be back in action at Rolland Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 23 when the Regals host the Athenas, looking to avenge an early season loss to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. The teams will kick off at 7:00 p.m.
