THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – This morning inside the Samuelson Aquatics Center the Inaugural Cal Lutheran Alumni Meet took place. The first ever event was dedicated to the memory of former swimmer Chris Knorr, who lost his battle with brain cancer in May 2013.

Many former CLU swimmers and divers returned for the event that honored Knorr with his parents Ron and Ginny in attendance. All of the returning Kingsmen and Regals had an opportunity to introduce themselves and share stories and memories of Chris. Head coach Tom Dodd and Ron each took a moment to speak as well. Pastor Melissa led the group in prayer as all current and former team members on deck sprinkled the water with rose pedals.

The white and yellow colors chosen respectfully represented Hope and Sunshine, Chris’ nickname.

Following the tribute, CLU split into two teams, Violet and Gold, and competed in short distance races as well as relays before concluding the day with a diving showcase.

Everyone was able to enjoy a brunch following the meet, exchanging more stories and happy memories of Chris and his time as part of the CLU family.

After the New Year the Cal Lutheran swim program will host the Inaugural Chris Knorr Invitational on January 3-4 at the Samuelson Aquatics Center.

The 2013-14 swimming and diving season will get underway next weekend when the Kingsmen and Regals travel to the Malibu Invitational at Pepperdine on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26. Competition on Friday begins at 10:00 a.m.
