THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – After recording its best record in three years, the Cal Lutheran will look to continue its winning ways while navigating a competitive and exciting schedule in 2014. The Regals will host 11 doubleheaders at Hutton Field during the season and will host series against teams hailing from Georgia, Oregon and Washington.

Cal Lutheran opens its season at home against Whitworth (Wash.) on Monday, Feb. 3. First pitch with the Pirates, who finished 2013 with a 23-20 record and made appearance in the Northwest Conference Tournament, is set for 10:00 a.m.

Four days later, CLU has a two-day, four-game road trip in San Diego. On Friday, Feb. 7, the Regals take on San Diego Christian with the first game getting underway at 1:00 p.m. The following day on Saturday, Feb. 8, CLU goes up against St. Katherine. The doubleheader with the Firebirds starts at 12:00 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 15, the Regals open Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) play at home against Pomona-Pitzer. CLU then travels to La Verne the next weekend before returning to Hutton Field to open an eight-game home stand. The Regals begin the stretch with defending SCIAC champion Redlands on Saturday, March 1 before hosting Berry (Ga.) on March 2. In 2013, the Vikings went 29-11 en route to winning the Southern Athletic Association regular season championship.

Later that week, Cal Lutheran hosts NAIA member Corban University (Ore.) for a doubleheader. A season ago, Corban went 43-15, captured the Cascade Collegiate Conference title and was one game away from advancing to the NAIA Softball National Championships.

The next two weeks, the Regals resume SCIAC play with home series against Occidental and Whittier while traveling to Chapman and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.

Willamette (Ore.) meets CLU on Monday, March, 24 for the Regals final non-conference series of the regular season. First pitch with the Bearcats is set for 1:00 p.m.

For the final month, Cal Lutheran will play its second doubleheader with each of the conference opponents and before hosting Chapman in its regular season finale on April 26.

All SCIAC doubleheaders on Fridays will start at 2:00 p.m. while Saturday conference doubleheaders will begin at 12:00 p.m.

The top four teams in the conference will advance to the SCIAC Post Season Tournament held May 2-3.
