New slate of officers to lead CLU students
President Ally Ruggles is exercise science major
Ricky Hegner, Ally Ruggles, Evan Carthen, Natalie Kalamdaryan and Ryan Fleming will serve on the 2014-2015 ASCLUG Executive Cabinet.
(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – March 14, 2014) Ally Ruggles of Henderson, Nev., will be the president of the Associated Students of California Lutheran University Government for the 2014-2015 year.
Students elected Ruggles as well as Programs Board Director Evan Carthen of Highland and Senate Director Ryan Fleming of Moorpark last month. Ruggles, Carthen and the ASCLUG Senate appointed the final two members of the Executive Cabinet, Controller Ricky Hegner of Galt and Recorder Natalie Kalamdaryan of Hollywood, on March 5. The Executive Cabinet plans activities and programs to educate and entertain students and serve the community.
As president, Ruggles will lead ASCLU and serve on CLU’s Board of Regents and Alumni Board of Directors. She will be the primary liaison between students and the faculty and staff.
Ruggles, a junior, has served as a Programs Board representative, presidential host, peer adviser and resident assistant. The exercise science major gained experience in local hospitals as part of the Clinical Care Extenders Program and studied abroad at Oxford University.
Carthen is a sophomore majoring in English and political science. A member of the Black Student Union and junior varsity basketball team, he has served as a Programs Board representative and a Pearson Library student assistant. Fellow students selected him as a member of the Sankta Lucia Festival court for his leadership, depth of character and faith his freshman year.
Fleming is a junior majoring in marketing communication and political science. He has served as a representative of the Senate and Programs Board and on the orientation staff. He also studied abroad at Oxford.
Hegner is a junior bioengineering major who has been named to the Dean’s List multiple times. He currently serves as an ASCLU senator and Pearson Library student assistant.
Kalamdaryan is a sophomore majoring in music production and communication. She sings with the Women’s Chorale, writes for the Echo student newspaper and is developing a show for CLU TV.
