Full cost scholarship and travel stipend grant available for Austria

The grant is called “Ernst Mach Grant for students from non-European countries for studying a fulltime programme at an Austrian university of applied sciences (Fachhochschule)” and offered by the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF). The grant is very generous and allows students to cover their full costs while being here. The grant sum is 940 Euro per month plus a travel allowance of max. 730 Euro and is available for a study abroad stay of 3-10 months.

Applicants must have completed at least 4 semesters of higher education in their home countries and must be nominated for a study abroad stay by their home universities. After their acceptance at FH JOANNEUM students can apply for the grant online at www.scholarships.at <http://www.scholarships.at>  <http://www.scholarships.at> . The application deadline is 1 March 2009 for the fall semester 2009-10 (September 2009 – January 2010 or July 2010 for those who stay for a whole academic year). Grants are given on a competitive basis – the better the students’ applications, the better the chance to get a grant.

The chances to get a grant are quite good – at the last application date 24 students applied for FH JOANNEUM and 19 out of them got the grant.
