THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Six-foot-five, 6-foot-3 and 6-foot-2 against 6-foot-1, 5-foot-11and 5-foot-10 was what the roster sheets said as the taller Australian Institute of Sport out-rebounded Cal Lutheran 54 to 35 en route to winning 62-45 Tuesday night in the Gilbert Arena.

Despite playing neck-and-neck with the Aussies, the Regals couldn't quite find the bucket enough, shooting just 1-for-12 on three-pointers as AIS raced out to 30-15 lead at the break.

Despite getting to in foul trouble midway through the second half, Cal Lutheran would get the score to within 52-40 with five minutes left to play but the Aussies would pull down 10 defensive rebounds in the final minutes to seal the victory.

Erica Whitely led all scorers with 17 points and Alex Turner finished with seven. Starla Wright, Channing Fleischmann and Rachel Heagy all had five points. Wright led the team with eight rebounds.

Six-foot-three Carly Turner led the Aussies with 13 points and seven rebounds.

Cal Lutheran begins regular season play Saturday, Nov. 17, when they host Bethesda Christian at 7:30 p.m. in the Gilbert Arena.
