THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran softball team will continue its tradition of playing a challenging schedule in 2013, announced Wednesday afternoon. The Regals will play a total of 26 home games, which will include non-conference opponents from Georgia, Minnesota, Oregon and Washington.

The Regals will begin their season by hosting Whitworth (Wash.) for a doubleheader at Hutton Field on Friday, Feb. 1, starting at 1:00 p.m. CLU comes back less than 24 hours later to play Pacifica on Saturday, Feb. 2 for a pair with the first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.

The Regals have little time to prepare for Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) action as they travel to Orange, Calif. on Saturday, Feb. 9 for a doubleheader against Chapman.

Cal Lutheran then begins a four-game tilt with the La Verne Leopards. Saturday, Feb. 16, the Regals travel to San Dimas, Calif. for a pair before returning to CLU on Monday, Feb. 18, to host the Leopards for two more, rounding out the season series. Both series will begin at noon.

Five days later, the Regals will travel to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps before heading east to clash with a Redlands team that went 32-13 last season and advanced to the second round the 2012 NCAA Division III Championships on March 2.

Monday, March 4, Cal Lutheran hosts Berry (Ga.) for a two-game series. Berry has been fielding a softball program for just three years, but went 25-11 in 2012 and narrowly missed the playoffs.

The Regals collide with conference foes Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer on March 9 and 16, respectively, before hosting Division III 2012 National Runner-Up Linfield (Ore.) on Thursday, March 21. First pitch of the marquee non-conference match-up is set for 1:00 p.m.

Cal Lutheran closes out the month of March hosting two non-conference opponents in George Fox (Ore.) and Hamline (Minn.). The Bruins and Regals will take the field on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday CLU and Hamline will face off with both doubleheaders beginning at 11:00 a.m.

The Regals conclude the regular season against six straight conference opponents. CLU begins the final stretch on the road when they travel to Claremont, Calif. to take on 2012 SCIAC second place finisher Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Friday, April 5 before heading to Occidental on April 6.

Cal Lutheran closes out the home portion of their schedule with a six-game home stand, hosting Redlands Friday, April 12, Pomona-Pitzer Saturday, April 13, and Chapman Friday, April 19.

The Regals conclude their regular season with a doubleheader at Whittier on Saturday, April 20.

Friday SCIAC games begin at 2:00 p.m. with Saturday league contests starting at noon.

Following the regular season the top four SCIAC teams in the standings will advance to play in the 2013 SCIAC Post Season Tournament to determine the automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
