Kingsmen and Regals Announce 2013 Track & Field Schedule

Schedule includes eight invites and four conference meets

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – The Cal Lutheran men’s and women’s track and field teams announced their 2013 schedule Friday afternoon. The Kingsmen and Regals are set to compete in eight invitational and four conference meets, highlighted by the SCIAC Championships on April 26-27.

CLU gets the season running with the Pomona-Pitzer All-Comers meet Saturday, Feb. 16 in Claremont, Calif. A week later the teams will make a return trip to compete in the Rossi Relays starting at 11:00 a.m.

Saturday, March 2, Cal Lutheran begins their Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) schedule as they compete with Caltech, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Redlands in the SCIAC Quad No. 1 hosted by the Beavers in Pasadena, Calif.

Friday, March 15, the CLU track & field teams will split up as the throwers will compete in the Northridge Invitational starting at 1:00 p.m. while the distance runners will compete at the Occidental Distance Carnival beginning at 6:00 p.m. The following morning, the Kingsmen and Regals sprinters, jumpers, and hurdlers will compete in the track events portion of the Northridge Invitational starting at 10:00 a.m.

A week later, Cal Lutheran will compete against La Verne, Redlands, and Whittier in the SCIAC Quad No. 2. The meet will be hosted by Whittier with the first events set to begin at 11:00 a.m. on March 23.

The weekend of March 28-30, the teams will make their lone trip outside of Los Angeles during the regular season, traveling to San Diego to take part in the Point Loma Nazarene University Invitational. Events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. each day.

The Kingsmen and Regals return to league action on April 6 at the SCIAC Quad No. 3. Cal Lutheran will compete against Chapman, Occidental and Pomona-Pitzer with events scheduled to being at 11:00 a.m.

Cal Lutheran will make their third trip of the season to Claremont, Calif. on April 13 to participate in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The Regals will look to repeat as conference champions two weeks later when they compete in the SCIAC Championships, which will be hosted by Cal Lutheran at Occidental. The two day event starts on April 26 at 2:30 p.m.

The Violet and Gold round out the regular season with the Occidental Invitational on May 4 before Cal Lutheran and Occidental team up to co-host a Last Chance Qualifier on May 10-11 at Occidental.

The NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships are schedule for May 23-25 in La Crosse, Wisc.
