LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Starla Wright is leaving it all out on the court as her senior season winds down. Announced today by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Wright becomes a three-time SCIAC Female Athlete of the Week with her nod the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 3.

Wright continues to lead the first-place Regals basketball team. In a win over Whittier on Thursday the Los Angeles, Calif. native recorded a monster 17-point, 17-rebound double-double by shooting 50.0 percent from the floor and going 8-for-9 at the charity stripe. Additionally, she recorded a pair of assists, a block and a steal.

On Saturday, in a hard fought 53-49 win on the road at Occidental she shared the team-lead with 13 points, adding a game-high eight rebounds, with a pair of steals, a block and an assist. Wright was 9-for-12 at the line and was responsible for breaking a 47-47 tie with 1:59 remaining in regulation with a free-throw. She would hit two more at the 1:22 mark as CLU held on for the win and the season sweep of the Tigers.

Cal Lutheran (19-3, 11-2 SCIAC) maintains possession of the top spot in the league as the teams enter the final two weeks of regular season play.

This week marks the fifth SCIAC Athlete of the Week representative from Cal Lutheran. She becomes the first three-time recipient this year, joining Kylie McLogan (Aug. 31-Sept.9 and Oct. 24-Nov. 4) and Zach Shultis (Oct. 15-21). Previously, Wright was named the SCIAC AOW for her performance between Dec. 17 and Jan 1, 2013 and again Jan. 7-13.
