The 2012-13 Regals have already racked up 19 victories, four shy of the school record of 23 set in 1994-95 season.

IANAPOLIS, Ind. – On National Girls and Women in Sports Day the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released the first of four regional polls for women’s basketball. Cal Lutheran landed in the No. 4 spot in the West Region as one of two SCIAC schools honored.

The Regals trail No. 1 Simpson (20-1) from the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as they boast a 16-0 regional record, followed by a pair of Northwest Conference teams in No. 2 Lewis & Clark (19-2) and No. 3 George Fox (16-4). The Pioneers are 15-2 in the West while the Bruins are 13-4.

No. 4 Cal Lutheran (19-3) currently holds a 16-3 regional record.

Rounding out the poll are No. 5 Minnesota-Morris (13-7, 12-0), No. 6 Concordia-Moorhead (17-4, 17-3), No. 7 Chapman (15-5, 13-4) and No. 8 St. Thomas (Minn.) (15-5, 15-4).

Cal Lutheran (19-3, 11-2 SCIAC) has a bye Thursday and will return to the hardwood on Saturday for the front end of a women’s-men’s doubleheader with Pomona-Pitzer. Tip-off on Play for Kay night is set for 5:00 p.m.
