Five Earn All-America Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Sophomore Jordan Card was named a 2013 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Division III Second Team All-America selection Monday evening. Joining Card were teammates Jane Galluzzi, Adrienne Ingalla, Morgan McCardell and Kylee Tomasetti who were all named Honorable Mention All-America. Card’s selection gives CLU its seventh player named to the Second Team while Galluzzi and McCardell repeated as Honorable Mention selections. It was the first honor for both Ingalla and Tomasetti.

Card was the top goal scorer for the Regals in 2013, netting a career-high 45 goals and dished out 12 assists. She also led the team by drawing 54 exclusions, a number that ranked as seventh most for a single season at CLU. The sophomore from Burbank, Calif. scored in 12 consecutive games from March 8-April 13 and scored a career-high six goals in a 13-8 victory over Cal State San Bernardino.

Galluzzi returned to strong form this season after receiving a medical redshirt in 2012. The senior from Honolulu, Hawaii was a versatile force for CLU, collecting 31 goals and 23 assists while drawing 31 exclusions. Defensively, she was second on the team with 49 steals. Galluzzi finished her career eighth in school history with 105 career goals.

In her first year as a regular starter, Ingalla proved to be one of the top two-way players in Division III, leading the team with 69 steals while finishing second with 36 goals. The sophomore from Glendale, Calif. had 10 multi-goal games including a career-high five against Pomona-Pitzer in March.

A 2013 First Team All-SCIAC selection, McCardell concluded her final season for the Regals with 33 goals and 25 assists. The UC-Irvine transfer also drew 30 exclusions while coming up with 30 steals on the defensive end. The Camarillo, Calif. native finished her career with 64 goals, 53 assists and 71 steals.

Rounding out the honorees for the Regals was Tomasetti. Cal Lutheran’s primary goalkeeper, Tomasetti finished 2013 with 259 saves, which was good for second all-time at CLU for a single season. The senior from Fresno, Calif. also came up with 45 steals which was fourth on the team. Tomasetti concluded her four-year career for CLU as second in school-history with 609 saves.

Fellow Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) foe Pomona-Pitzer led the way with three First Team All-America selections including Sarah Tuggy, who was named the Division III Player of the Year.
