  • Spring 2019 Overload/Adjunct Faculty Contracts were generated on the first day of class (1/23/19) and will be electronically distributed to the recipient's Cal Lutheran email address the week of Feb. 4. The first pay date for Overload/Adjunct FacultyContracts will be Tues., Feb. 26. If you have any questions about your contract, contact Jason Lopez at jplopez@callutheran.edu.

  • Festival of Scholars - April 29 - May 3, 2019: The last day to plan a session to be included in the 2019 Festival of Scholars is Mon., Jan. 28. Please click here to complete the Session Request Form and return to fos@callutheran.edu or Ashley Morris at MC 1425.

  • College Administrative Fellowship Call for Applications – The CoAS Dean’s Office encourages eligible faculty and staff to apply for the Summer 2019 CoAS Administrative Fellows Program, a signature professional development program that focuses intentionally on developing academic administrative leadership skills.   • Note to All Full-Time Faculty:  According to the faculty handbook, it is your responsibility to initiate application for promotion as you are eligible. If you are eligible and would like to apply for promotion next year you need to complete the Declaration and Peer Evaluator Form by Fri., Feb. 15. It can be found online Here (you will need to log in with your CLU username and password first – the form begins by entering your Chair and Dean information). You will receive a confirmation email once it has been submitted. If you have any questions, contact Karissa Oien atkoien@callutheran.edu.
     
  • Fall 2018 course evaluations: To access your reports, begin by logging into the system at http://courseval.callutheran.edu with your Cal Lutheran username and password.  When you login you will see a message that says, “There are no recent reports available to you.”  This message is showing because all of the course evaluations have closed.  There are two ways you can access your report.  Either click on the link that says, “Click here to view past reports” or hover over the Reports tab and choose Evaluation reports.  Once in the Evaluation Reports screen, please make sure the Year drop-down is set to 2018 and the Period drop-down is set to the correct semester/term (18/FA – Fall Semester; 18/FA/A – Fall Term, 18/OM/2 = Online Term 2). 
     
  • Don’t Cancel That Class – The Division of Student Affairs is pleased to offer Don’t Cancel That Class to faculty members who may be away for conference travel, meetings, etc.  You may request a Student Affairs staff member to present on a particular topic (e.g., job interview skills, dealing with test anxiety, financial literacy, etc.) or welcome them to present on the topic of their choice.  To make arrangements for an upcoming class, please contact Senior Coordinator for Residence Life and Student Conduct, Caitlin Hodges at hodges@callutheran.edu.
     
  • Library: The Pearson Library encourages faculty to place required course materials on reserve for their students. Please visit the Pearson Library webpage, go to Services and “Place a Course Reserve” to begin the process and learn more about Course Reserves at the Pearson Library. Please address any library questions, concerns or requests to Grady Hanrahan, interim Director, atghanraha@callutheran.edu.
     
  • Additional Resources for the Campus Community – Give An Hour: Give An Hour is a nonprofit organization that works to develop national networks of volunteer professionals capable of lending time to assist the community with counseling services. These services are free of charge and can be available in-person, over the phone, or via video call. Melina Abdullah, one of the founders of Black Lives Matter, is professor and chair of Pan-African Studies at California State University, Los Angeles. Admission is free.

  • Ventura County Sheriff Active Shooter Response Training – Fri., Feb. 8, 12:30 pm, Gilbert Arena. Representatives of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department will conduct a training session for all interested faculty and staff members. The training will consist of video and dialogue, and is part of a countywide initiative to train local businesses and schools in emergency-response preparedness.
     
  • Cal Lutheran Campus Safety Classroom Active Shooter/Violent Incident Response Training – Fri., Feb. 8, 1:30-2:30pm and 2:30-3:30pm, Hum 116.  Representatives of the Cal Lutheran Campus Safety Department will conduct classroom training sessions for faculty and staff. The training will consist of a video presentation and open dialogue regarding the best practices for staying safe in the classroom, Campus Safety’s role in emergency response and Cal Lutheran emergency communication.  The trainers have been formally trained at the ALICE(Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate) Training Institute.   ALICE Training provides preparation and a plan for individuals and organizations on how to more proactively handle the threat of an aggressive intruder or active shooter event. (Note, you will only need to attend one of the classroom training timeslots, as the same material will covered in both sessions.  Please indicate your timeslot preference in your RSVP). Please RSVP here to attend one of the sessions.
