Spotlight

 

  • Honors Convocation, Tues., Apr. 30, 11:15am, Samuelson Chapel.  We will be on Convocation Schedule with classes ending at 11:00am and resuming at 12:40pm. Outstanding Alumni Award Recipient, Dr. Tracy M. Downs '88, will give the keynote address, faculty receiving promotion and/or tenure in Fall 2019 will be recognized, and the President's Award for Teaching Excellence recipient will be announced. Please note: In order to highlight the importance of our faculty at this prestigious academic event, regalia will be worn and faculty will meet at Gumby to process. Regalia ordered from the bookstore by March 20, can be used for both Honors Convocation and Commencement.

  • 2019 Traditional Undergraduate and PROS Commencement Speakers: If you know a student who is scheduled to graduate in May 2019 who would do an excellent job sharing their story at Commencement, please encourage them to submit a speech no later than 5pm on Fri., Mar. 8.  The prompt is: How have your experiences at Cal Lutheran helped you on your journey toward discovering or strengthening your purpose and living a meaningful and impactful life?   • New First Year Experience (FYE) Director Selected: The College is pleased to announce the incoming FYE Director, Dr. Michael McCambridge, Professor of Education and the Director of Interdisciplinary Educational Studies (IES). This appointment is effective through May 2022.
     
  • Festival of Scholars Apr. 29 – May 3.  Student abstract submission window: Mar. 1 – Mar. 29 at 5pm.  Click here for instructions and student submissions.
     
  • TUG registration for Fall 19 will begin Mar. 15.  Students have received an email with their registration appointment and should be contacting their faculty advisors.  Students will be registering as indicated below:
    • 3/15/19 - Juniors/Seniors
    • 3/18/19 - Sophomores/Juniors
    • 3/19/19 - Freshmen/Sophomores

  • Grantwriting Academy: The next workshop in the Grantwriting Academy, titled “Do the Dollars Make Sense? Allowable Spending & Budget Development,” will help you understand the ins and outs of developing a budget for your program or project.   • Have you published a book or illustrated a work during the past year that will be published by April 30, 2019? Please let us know by Thurs., April 11 so that we can recognize you at the Provost’s Reception for faculty authors and grant recipients during Festival of Scholars.  ALSO, save the date for the Provost’s Reception, which will be held Tues., April 30, at 5 pm in the William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art. Please email Roni Hooper at rhooper@callutheran.edu with a brief synopsis of your published book or illustrated work and the date of publication. If you have a photo file of your book cover, please forward that as well.
