  • Department Chairs and Program Directorsare invited to two upcoming events:
    • Tues., Apr. 2, 11:25am-12:15pm, Lundring: Update on Adjunct Faculty Changes. This is a follow-up to the meeting held in February on this topic.
    • Thurs., Apr. 4, 2:15-3:15pm, Richter Hall (Ahmanson Science Center): Meeting with Natasha Baker, Cal Lutheran Attorney.  Natasha will present on legal information relevant to department chairs and program directors.

  • Artists and Speakers presents: Chalk Festival for April Fools, Sidewalk artists at work, Mon., Apr. 1 and Tues., Apr. 2, Campuswide.
     
  • Take Back the Night: Stand Up Against Sexual Violence Rally, Tues., Apr. 2, 7pm, Kingsmen Park. Katie Koestner, who in 1990 became the first woman in the U.S. to speak out about being the victim of date rape, will keynote the rally. Koestner is the executive director of the Take Back the Night Foundation.
     
  • Spring Choral Concert featuring the Cal Lutheran Choral Ensembles, Tues., Apr. 2, 7:30pm, Samuelson Chapel. Wyant Morton conducts. Donations accepted.

  • CoAS Administrative Fellows Selected - Brian Collins (Philosophy) and Andrea Sell (Psychology) have been selected as the first cohort in the CoAS Administrative Fellows Program. Sell's project, "Assessing and Improving Morale and Job Satisfaction," involves a toolkit for Chairs and Program Directors.  Collins' project, "Strengthening the University Honors Program," involves development of an Associate Directorship position.

  • Honors Convocation, Tues., Apr. 30, 11:15am, Samuelson Chapel.  We will be on Convocation Schedule with classes ending at 11:00am and resuming at 12:40pm. Outstanding Alumni Award Recipient, Dr. Tracy M. Downs '88, will give the keynote address (click here to view bio), faculty receiving promotion and/or tenure in Fall 2019 will be recognized, and the President's Award for Teaching Excellence recipient will be announced. Please note: In order to highlight the importance of our faculty at this prestigious academic event, regalia will be worn and faculty will meet at Gumby at 11:00am to process.

  • Grant writing workshops - The Office of Sponsored Research and Projects is presenting a grant writing series for faculty and staff. The next workshop is titled "Cha-Ching!   • Have you published a book or illustrated a work during the past year that will be published by April 30, 2019? Please let us know by Thurs., April 11 so that we can recognize you at the Provost’s Reception for faculty authors and grant recipients during Festival of Scholars.  ALSO, save the date for the Provost’s Reception, which will be held Tues., April 30, at 5 pm in the William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art. Please email Roni Hooper at rhooper@callutheran.edu with a brief synopsis of your published book or illustrated work and the date of publication. If you have a photo file of your book cover, please forward that as well.
     
  • Good Friday Holiday, Apr. 19 - No PLTS or CLU semester classes. Most administrative offices closed. CLU classes resume at 4pm on Mon., Apr. 22.
