- Ramadan, the holiest month in the Muslim sacred calendar, begins this year at sunset on May 5. The month of Ramadan provides a time for reflection and spiritual discipline, to express gratitude for God's guidance and to atone for past sins. Each day during this month, all adult Muslims whose health permits are to abstain from food and drink from sunrise to sunset. Click here for more information about how this may affect your students.
- First Year Experience: Faculty are invited to teach a First Year Experience Seminar in the fall semester of 2019. There will be some changes in format, which will be revealed in selected informational meetings in May. What we need now is to generate a tentative list of interested faculty who would like to teach this seminar. As we have said in meetings, I took this position because I believe in the importance of the program and its positive impact on our students, but the program can only be effective with interested faculty who share this outcome.
