The academy will take place Monday-Friday, June 17-21, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Cal Lutheran's main campus. The goal of the academy is to introduce the discipline and practice of philosophy to high school students. Applications are due May 17. Cost is $25 (to help cover lunches and books). For information and application instructions, visit CalLutheran.edu/philosophy-academy. Please direct questions to Brian Collins at briancollins@callutheran.edu or 715-222-9114.
  • First Year Experience: Faculty are invited to teach a First Year Experience Seminar in the fall semester of 2019. There will be some changes in format, which will be revealed in selected informational meetings in May. What we need now is to generate a tentative list of interested faculty who would like to teach this seminar. As we have said in meetings, I took this position because I believe in the importance of the program and its positive impact on our students, but the program can only be effective with interested faculty who share this outcome. Please consider this opportunity as we welcome a new freshmen class. Please let me know if you are interested. For questions, contact Michael McCambridge, FYE Director, at mdmccamb@callutheran.edu.

  • Faculty are invited to nominate colleagues for the Provost's Distinguished Scholar Award. Click here for criteria and the nomination form. FADC will be updating the review process to reflect structural changes in the College of Arts and Sciences.

  • Call for Papers: The Association of Lutheran College Faculties (ALCF) invite proposals for the 2019 ALCF Conference, being held at Wittenberg University, Springfield, Ohio, October 4-5. The conference theme is Remaking Ourselves: The Impact of Human Creativity on Humanity and the World. Submissions are now open, with a deadline of August 1.  Please click here for more information, including the proposal submission form.

  • Incomplete Grades – Are you assigning an “IN” (Incomplete) this semester or term?  Here are the Policies on Incomplete Grades (Please note that this form and policy are not for PLTS). Click herefor the link to the Incomplete Form. For questions please contact Academic Services.
    • Undergraduate Student Policy:  A grade of "IN" (Incomplete) may be assigned only in the case of students who, for illness or other circumstances beyond their control, have missed a final examination or major piece of work. Students may not make up the Incomplete by repeating the course. For traditional undergraduate students, an "IN" automatically becomes an "F" if not made up by the published date for the last day to withdraw from a course of the following regular semester after the Incomplete grade was given. For Bachelor's Degree for Professionals students, an "IN" automatically becomes an "F" if not made up by the last day of the following term.
    • Graduate Student Policy: A grade of “IN” (Incomplete) may be assigned only in the case of a student who, for illness or other circumstances beyond his or her control, has missed a final examination or major piece of work. A student may not make up the Incomplete by repeating the course. Make-up work must be evaluated by the instructor who assigned the original grade of Incomplete. If not made up within one year’s time, an “IN” automatically becomes an “NC.” A student may petition in writing to extend an “IN” beyond one year if there are extenuating circumstances.
