Spotlight

 

  • Community Leaders Association (CLA) Grant Proposals for Spring '20 awards due Fri., Nov. 1. The CLA has funds available to support faculty in engaging within the community. Appropriate proposals include cultural events, seminars, outreach efforts, and community-based research. Click here to view a rubric that clarifies selection criteria for this competitive application. Funding is generally provided up to $2,500; to be expended by the following fiscal year end. The proposal request form can be found on the Academic Affairs Grant Funding website under Community Leaders Association Grants.   • National First-Generation College Celebration will be celebrated on campus during the week of November 4th. Please join us and invite your students to participate in these events to highlight the assets that first-generation students bring to our campus.   • Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) student registration for Spring 20 will begin on Fri., Nov. 8.  On Fri., Oct. 4, emails were sent to students with their registration appointments (based upon credits completed).  The Spring 20 semester schedule is available on WebAdvisor and Student Planning.     • Seniors: Fri., Nov. 8
    • Juniors:  Fri., Nov. 8 – Mon., Nov. 11

  • For faculty that advise in the Traditional Undergraduate Program, Academic Services has created a Core-21 list specifically for the courses offered in the Spring 2020 semester. Click here to view it on the Academic Planning website.
  • All full and part-time faculty are invited to join the Teaching & Learning Committee at the 2019 Winter Faculty Retreat. The retreat will be held Tuesday, January 21, starting at 8:30am in the Lundring Events Center, Thousand Oaks Campus. Enjoy breakfast & coffee, and lunch provided by Mendocino Farms!
     
  • Project CHESS Faculty Learning CIRCLE Collaborative application now open for 2020-2021-The Culturally Inclusive & Responsive Curricula for Learning Equity (CIRCLE) Collaborative brings together faculty learning communities (FLCs) from Cal Lutheran and Moorpark College to participate in a year-long professional development program that provides the tools to (re)design syllabi to be more culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining for historically marginalized students. The application for the 2020-2021 cohort is now open to Cal Lutheran University and Moorpark College faculty. Program Dates- 3-Day Workshop: May 27-29, 2020;1-Day Workshop: January 8, 2021;3-Day Workshop June 2-4, 2021.   • Please encourage any interested students to apply! 2020 Equity Leadership Council Student Delegate Application: The Equity Leadership Council (ELC) is seeking three student delegate members (2 undergraduate and 1 graduate) for the 2020 calendar year.   • Were you a first-generation college student? – A working group on campus is seeking to identify and enlist faculty and staff members who were the first in their families to graduate from college. If you are willing to be visible about your first-generation identity, have your name listed on the Cal Lutheran website or participate in programming for National First-Generation College Celebration Week in early November, click here.   • Nominations and expressions of interest are invited for the position of Pre-Health Advisor. This position carries a three-year term and will commence in Fall 2020. The position is open to all full-time faculty in the Natural Sciences Division. Please click here for more information about the Pre-Health Advising program.   • Save the Date: Professionals’ 8th Annual Holiday Toy Drive - December 2 – 13!  We will be collecting new, un-wrapped toys for infants, children, and teens to be donated to KABC7 & So. Cal Firefighters’ Spark of Love Toy Collection.  Check back soon for a list of convenient drop locations around campus!

  • Artist in Residence: Delesprie, Mondays and Wednesdays through Dec. 4, 3-6pm, William Rolland Art Center Gallery. Watch live sculpting demonstrations by world-famous master sculptor Delesprie.

  • Campus Diversity Initiative presents: Lunchbox Diversity - Anti-Racism and White Fragility, Tues., Nov. 5, 11:30am - 1pm, Kingsmen Room (SU114). Lunch provided with RSVP.
     
  • Be reminded that all classes must meet on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and all classes must meet during finals week. Failure to do so is a violation of federal regulations on the minimum required amount of class meeting time. Note: there are no TUG classes on Wed., Nov. 27 (the day before Thanksgiving), however, it is a reading day, so an assignment should be given.
     
  • All faculty are invited to the annual Faculty Holiday Reception, hosted by the Provost's Office, Fri., Dec. 6, 4-6pm, William Rolland Art Center Student Art Gallery. Significant others are welcome to attend!
