• All Graduate Faculty Meeting, Mon., Nov. 11, 3:15 – 3:45pm, Swenson 120. The meeting is to discuss any current issues that graduate faculty are dealing with, and to discuss the graduate faculty’s involvement in the upcoming WASC visit. • Withdrawal deadline extended - Due to the University closure on 10/30 and 10/31, the last day to withdraw, file a pass/no credit, and remove an incomplete from Spring 2019 and Summer 2019 has been extended to Wed., Nov. 13, at 5:00pm. • One Year Anniversary of Borderline Shooting – Faculty, staff and students are invited to the following events this week for commemoration and healing:
• Vigil led by Campus Ministry, Wed., Nov. 6, noon–1 pm, The Enormous Luther statue ("Gumby").
• Collection of Reflections: Remembering, Healing, Growing - Fill out a notecard for a giant display, Thurs., Nov. 7, 10 am–3 pm,The Enormous Luther.
• Healing Garden dedication, with Kingsmen and Regals Quartets performing the National Anthem, Thurs., Nov. 7, 3:15pm, at Lakeside Pavilion at Conejo Creek North, 1379 E. Janss Road in Thousand Oaks. Gates open at 2:30pm. The garden is the city's permanent memorial to Borderline shooting victims. Parking will be available at Conejo Creek South, with shuttle buses offering transportation to Conejo Creek North. Standing room only.
• Boots in the Park - BBQ food trucks and dance lessons by the Line Dancing Club, Fri., Nov. 8, 11:30 am–1:30 pm,Kingsmen Park.
• Stories from the Borderline shooting – Personal stories will be shared by Borderline survivors, families of victims, first responders and community members at T.O. Remembers: Stories from November 2018, Fri., Nov. 8, 7-9 pm, at the Scherr Forum Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. There will be musical performances and behavioral health resources on-site. • National First-Generation College Celebration - The Department of Counselor Education, in collaboration with other student support offices/programs on campus, will be hosting several events to participate in the 2019 National First-Generation College Celebration during the week of Nov. 4. • Faculty and staff event – Wildwood Hike followed by lunch at Toppers Pizza, Sat., Nov. 9, 10am. Hike - meet in the parking lot of Wildwood Regional Park, 928 W. Avenida de los Arboles. The Staff Development Committee and the Faculty Executive Committee have planned this event for faculty and staff to come together and enhance connections across the community. • Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) student registration for Spring 20 will begin on Fri., Nov. 8.  On Fri., Oct. 4, emails were sent to students with their registration appointments (based upon credits completed).  The Spring 20 semester schedule is available on WebAdvisor and Student Planning. • World Fair proposals – Faculty and staff can encourage students to participate in World Fair on Wed., Nov. 20, during International Education Week. The fair is a cultural bazaar showcasing countries represented by Cal Lutheran students. Individual students or groups can host an interactive table or performance to celebrate their country’s culture. Click here to submit a performance proposal by Nov. 8. Table funding is available. • Project CHESS Faculty Learning CIRCLE Collaborative application now open for 2020-2021-The Culturally Inclusive & Responsive Curricula for Learning Equity (CIRCLE) Collaborative brings together faculty learning communities (FLCs) from Cal Lutheran and Moorpark College to participate in a year-long professional development program that provides the tools to (re)design syllabi to be more culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining for historically marginalized students. The application for the 2020-2021 cohort is now open to Cal Lutheran University and Moorpark College faculty. Program Dates- 3-Day Workshop: May 27-29, 2020;1-Day Workshop: January 8, 2021; 3-Day Workshop June 2-4, 2021. • Nominations and expressions of interest are invited for the position of Pre-Health Advisor. This position carries a three-year term and will commence in Fall 2020. • Be reminded that all classes must meet on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and all classes must meet during finals week. Failure to do so is a violation of federal regulations on the minimum required amount of class meeting time. Note: there are no TUG classes on Wed., Nov. 27 (the day before Thanksgiving), however, it is a reading day, so an assignment should be given.
