  • IRB Update - At this point, all of the researchers with ongoing projects that were previously approved by IRB have been contacted.  They have been asked to provide additional information and/or have been given the "green light" to resume their research. If you or your students have an ongoing research project and have NOT been contacted, please email IRB@callutheran.edu.  Pending IRB submissions will be reviewed this week.  New IRB applications are now being accepted.  Click here to apply via the IRB website.

  • International Education Week, Nov. 18-22: International Education Week (IEW), is a national opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This week is a chance for Cal Lutheran to commemorate the cultures represented on campus, and learn about the differences that make the community beautiful. The Center for Global Engagement in collaboration with Cal Lutheran partners invites you to engage in global learning by attending various programs throughout the week.   • Global Engagement Celebratory Reception - Mon., Nov. 18, 1:30pm-3:00pm, Center for Global Engagement Patio. Gather at the Center for Global Engagement to celebrate Cal Lu’s internationalization work. Founding members of the proposed Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars welcome the campus community to toast present and future accomplishments! Drop by, even if you only have a moment to join us.
     
  • International Film Festival presents "L'Etudiante et Monsieur Henri," (The Student and Mr. Henri, France, 2015), Mon., Nov. 18, 7:30pm, Richter Hall. Admission is free. The film is shown in French with English subtitles.
     
  • Cultural and Political Democratization in Northern and Eastern Africa: Rwanda and Tunisia- Tues., Nov. 19, 5-6pm, Ullman Commons 101. This lecture led by Dr. Gregory Freeland focuses on the role of music in political resistance, democratization, and cultural mobilization in Rwanda and Tunisia.

  • Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Nov. 20, 11am - 1pm, reserved area in the UPSTAIRS Ullman Dining Commons. The discounted price of $8 + tax includes all menu options offered in the Dining Commons.
     
  • World Fair- Wed., Nov. 20, 5-7pm, Student Union. The World Fair is a cultural bazaar hosted by United Students of the World and the Center for Global Engagement showcasing the countries represented at Cal Lutheran. Come enjoy interactive tables, cultural performances, global food and more!

  • Center for Teaching and Learning's Lunch Series, Thurs., Nov. 21, 12:15-1:00pm, Swenson 103.  Cia De Martino (CTL Director) will speak on "Liberating Structures for the Classroom and the Boardroom."   • Fulbright Interest Sessions, Fri., Nov. 22, 11am-12pm. Faculty Sessions in the Roth Nelson Conference Center, Student Sessions in the Kingsmen Room. Learn what the Fulbright Scholar Program has to offer and how to apply.
     
  • An Evening of Symphonic Music - Wind Ensemble and String Symphony, Fri., Nov. 22, 7:30pm, Samuelson Chapel. Donations accepted.
  • Looking for a one-of-a-kind teaching opportunity? Interested in teaching Cal Lutheran students alongside jail /prison inmates or holding a skill-based workshop for inmates? Cal Lutheran’s Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program allows faculty to develop unique, immersion learning opportunities for majors. “Pathway 101” are workshops given by Cal Lutheran faculty in every discipline and delivered at the Ventura County Todd Road Jail to aid inmates as they prepare to reintegrate into society. These courses and workshops have proven highly rewarding for students, professors, and the community at large.   • Project CHESS Faculty Learning CIRCLE Collaborative application now open for 2020-2021-The Culturally Inclusive & Responsive Curricula for Learning Equity (CIRCLE) Collaborative brings together faculty learning communities (FLCs) from Cal Lutheran and Moorpark College to participate in a year-long professional development program that provides the tools to (re)design syllabi to be more culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining for historically marginalized students. The application for the 2020-2021 cohort is now open to Cal Lutheran University and Moorpark College faculty. Program Dates- 3-Day Workshop: May 27-29, 2020;1-Day Workshop: January 8, 2021;3-Day Workshop June 2-4, 2021.   • Nominations and expressions of interest are invited for the position of Pre-Health Advisor. This position carries a three-year term and will commence in Fall 2020. The position is open to all full-time faculty in the Natural Sciences Division. Please click here for more information about the Pre-Health Advising program.   • Save the Date: Professionals’ 8th Annual Holiday Toy Drive - December 2 – 13!  We will be collecting new, un-wrapped toys for infants, children, and teens to be donated to KABC7 & So. Cal Firefighters’ Spark of Love Toy Collection.  Check back soon for a list of convenient drop locations around campus!
     
  • Humanizing the Other: Art by Salomón Huerta exhibit in the Kwan Fong Gallery through Jan. 3, 2020.
     
  • Key Frames: A Celebration of Animation and Production Art, exhibit in the William Rolland Gallery of Fine Art through Jan. 9, 2020.
     
  • Artist in Residence: Delesprie, Mondays and Wednesdays through Dec. 4, 3-6pm, William Rolland Art Center Gallery. Watch live sculpting demonstrations by world-famous master sculptor Delesprie.

 

Upcoming

 

 

  • Be reminded that all classes must meet on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and all classes must meet during finals week. Failure to do so is a violation of federal regulations on the minimum required amount of class meeting time. Note: there are no TUG classes on Wed., Nov. 27 (the day before Thanksgiving), however, it is a reading day, so an assignment should be given.
     
  • All faculty are invited to the annual Faculty Holiday Reception, hosted by the Provost's Office, Fri., Dec. 6, 4-6pm, William Rolland Art Center Student Art Gallery. Significant others are welcome to attend!
