  • Note to All FacultyAccording to the faculty handbook, it is your responsibility to initiate application for promotion as you are eligible. If you are eligible and would like to apply for promotion next year, you need to complete the Declaration and Peer Evaluator Form by December 15. (As was discussed at the November faculty meeting, the deadline has been moved up to December 15.) The form can be found online HERE (you will need to log in with your CLU username and password first – the form begins by entering your Chair and Dean information). You will receive a confirmation email once it has been submitted. More information about eligibility for promotion can be found in the Faculty Handbook, Section II.   • Be reminded that all classes must meet on the Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week and all classes must meet during finals week. Failure to do so is a violation of federal regulations on the minimum required amount of class meeting time. Note: there are no Traditional Undergraduate classes on Wed., Nov. 27 (the day before Thanksgiving), however, it is a reading day, so an assignment should be given.
     
  • NO Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Nov. 27. 
     
  • Most administrative offices will close at 3pm on Wed., Nov. 27, and be closed Thurs., Nov. 28 and Fri., Nov. 29, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • NO University Chapel this week. Happy Thanksgiving!
     
  • NO Center for Teaching and Learning's Lunch Series this week.
     
  • IRB Update - At this point, all of the researchers with ongoing projects that were previously approved by IRB have been contacted.  They have been asked to provide additional information and/or have been given the "green light" to resume their research. If you or your students have an ongoing research project and have NOT been contacted, please email IRB@callutheran.eduNew IRB applications are now being accepted.  Click here to apply via the IRB website.
  • Artists and Speakers Funding - Looking for funding for that special artist or speaker you would like to bring to campus? Click here to submit your proposals to the Artists and Speakers committee.   • Project CHESS Faculty Learning CIRCLE Collaborative application now open for 2020-2021-The Culturally Inclusive & Responsive Curricula for Learning Equity (CIRCLE) Collaborative brings together faculty learning communities (FLCs) from Cal Lutheran and Moorpark College to participate in a year-long professional development program that provides the tools to (re)design syllabi to be more culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining for historically marginalized students. The application for the 2020-2021 cohort is now open to Cal Lutheran University and Moorpark College faculty. Program Dates- 3-Day Workshop: May 27-29, 2020;1-Day Workshop: January 8, 2021;3-Day Workshop June 2-4, 2021.   • Nominations and expressions of interest are invited for the position of Pre-Health Advisor. This position carries a three-year term and will commence in Fall 2020. The position is open to all full-time faculty in the Natural Sciences Division. Please click here for more information about the Pre-Health Advising program.   • Festival of Scholars: The last day to plan a session to be included in the 2020 Festival of Scholars is Jan. 27, 2020. Click here to complete the Session Request Form and return to fos@callutheran.edu or Ashley Morris at MC 1425.
     
  • The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship, along with the ALLIES office, are in the planning stages for the upcoming 2020 Summer Research Fellowship application cycle. Please click here to let us know if you plan to work with students to apply for a Cal Lutheran undergraduate research fellowship. This form is non-binding and will give us a general idea of how many faculty are available and willing to work with students this summer.   • Intersections Fall 2019 - Intersections is the biannual publication by the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities (NECU). Each issue reflects on faith, learning, and teaching within Lutheran higher education, especially as these intersect with contemporary challenges, opportunities, and initiatives. The Fall 2019 issue draws from the Vocation of a Lutheran College Conference (now referred to as Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference) that took place this past July, which focused on the theme “Beyond Privilege: Engaging Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity.” Click here to access the digital copy.

  • Artist in Residence: Delesprie, Mondays and Wednesdays through Dec. 4, 3-6pm, William Rolland Art Center Gallery. Watch live sculpting demonstrations by world-famous master sculptor Delesprie.
