Spotlight

 

  • 2020 Winter Faculty Retreat, Tues., Jan. 21, 8:30am - 1:15pm, Lundring Events Center, Thousand Oaks Campus. Theme: Reflecting on our Past, Creating our Future. RSVP and Draft Schedule Here  All full-time and part-time faculty welcome!
     
  • The inaugural Faculty Assembly will be held on Tues., Jan. 21, 1:30-3:30pm, Lundring Events Center, immediately following the Winter Faculty Retreat.  This is the ONLY full faculty meeting for the entire spring semester. Business includes important votes, including the proposals from December's final faculty meeting, and some committee appointments for academic year 2020-21.   • Staff and Faculty Lunch, Wed., Jan. 22, 11am - 1pm, reserved area in the UPSTAIRS Ullman Dining Commons. The discounted price of $8 + tax includes all menu options offered in the Dining Commons.

  • Planning and Leading Effective Meetings training, led by Dena Jenson, Director of our Center for Nonprofit Leadership, Mon., Jan. 27, 1-2pm, Ullman Commons 100. Begin the New Year with this short practice roundtable and learn new tips and strategies for planning, facilitating and supporting effective meetings with your key stakeholders.   • Interfaith Lunch for Faculty and Staff, Wed., Feb. 12, 12-1pm, Kingsmen Room (SU114).  Come together over lunch to learn about each other and mutually create a community of inclusion and welcome. This year, the topics of the lunches will center around chapters selected from Barbara Brown Taylor’s Holy Envy. You will find information on ways to acquire the text when you click on the registration link below. Seating is limited to the first 25 registrants.   • Nominations and expressions of interest are invited for two positions in the College of Arts and Sciences: Associate Dean for Inclusion & Research/Creative Scholarship and Associate Dean for Students & Faculty Affairs. These positions carry a negotiable term of service and will commence in Fall 2020.   • IRB Update - At this point, all of the researchers with ongoing projects that were previously approved by IRB have been contacted.  They have been asked to provide additional information and/or have been given the "green light" to resume their research. If you or your students have an ongoing research project and have NOT been contacted, please email IRB@callutheran.eduNew IRB applications are now being accepted.  Click here to apply via the IRB website.
     
  • Festival of Scholars: The last day to plan a session to be included in the 2020 Festival of Scholars is Jan. 27, 2020. Click here to complete the Session Request Form and return to fos@callutheran.edu or Ashley Morris at MC 1425.

  • PLTS Spring Semester begins Mon., Feb. 3.
     
  • Harold Stoner Clark Lecture Series presents: The Metaphysical Problem in Race Theory - Quayshawn Spencer, Tues., Feb. 18, Samuelson Chapel. Dr. Spencer is the Robert S. Blank Presidential Associate Professor of Philosophy at the University of Pennsylvania. A pre-lecture discussion will be led by Brian Collins (Philosophy), Fri., Feb. 14, 2:15pm, Overton Hall.
    • Lecture 1: 11:10am - "When Population Genetics Meets the Metaphysics of Race." **Please note we will be on Convocation Schedule with classes ending at 11:00am and resuming at 12:40pm.
    • Lecture 2: 4:00pm - "A Radical Solution to the Race Problem."
