Deadline for Faculty Decisions on Course Modality: Faculty in the College or the School of Management (SOM) who are not able to teach face-to-face, or have concerns about teaching face-to-face, have been given the option to teach virtually. The email sent to faculty last Thursday said: “Faculty teaching traditional undergraduate and/or SOM graduate classes must be committed to teaching face-to-face/hybrid or virtually by July 10th so we can finalize the course schedules and meeting locations.” The Registrar’s Office will begin re-working the course schedules starting on July 10th based on faculty requests for teaching face-to-face/hybrid or virtually. The College of Arts and Sciences would prefer to receive your response by July 7th so they can process the information to send to the Registrar’s Office, but they can wait until noon on 7/10 to hear from you if you need the additional time.

Faculty cannot change their mind after July 10th about teaching face-to-face unless they present a request based on COVID-19 related matters which include, but are not limited to:

  • self-quarantine (due to contact tracing; high-risk exposure);
  • isolation (due to positive test);
  • international re-entry travel guidelines and/or regulatory restrictions;
  • direct support health care matters (for family members); or
  • changes to the plans for K-12 schools resulting in a change to childcare and home schooling.

Please use the fall survey to indicate whether or not you have any barriers to teaching face-to-face in the fall. The survey link can be found in the upper left corner of MyCLU. If you are teaching in the College, please also let Edna know your preferences.

Please contact Elizabeth Wold, ewold@callutheran.edu for registration.

  • International Student Resources - The Cal Lutheran international student community received direct communication from the Office of International Students and Scholars that, if facing financial crisis associated with the COVID-19 crisis, international students should outreach to the OISS at international@callutheran.edu. While not eligible for the government’s COVID-19 student relief funds, through the Cal Lutheran CARES DAY initiative, some limited funds have been identified to support the international students who are facing economic hardship. If you are engaging with international students, please remind them to always read the OISS Weekly Update for important details about support initiatives and direct them to contact OISS at international@callutheran.edu with questions. Additionally, remind them that Campus Ministry offers support through the Community Cupboard which is still providing food resources during the summer.
