Spotlight

Harassment Policy and Incident Reporting System: The draft Harassment, Discrimination, Biased Conduct and Retaliation Prohibition policy (also known as “HR006”) and the proposed Harassment, Discrimination and Bias Reporting System are linked here for your review. Please feel free to read these documents and provide responses to the following questions to provost@callutheran.edu by the end of the day on Mon., Nov. 9 (please resist the urge to wordsmith the document):

  1. Is there anything of critical importance missing?
  2. Is there anything in the policy or reporting system that should be removed?
  3. Overall, do you perceive it to be the case that this policy and the reporting system address the needs that they were meant to address?

Nominations are being accepted for the faculty member of the Incident Response Team, which is being formed to review incidents reported through the new Harassment, Discrimination and Bias Reporting System. Submit self-nominations or nominations of others to Aaron Heresco at aheresco@callutheran.edu by Fri., Nov. 13. Click here for more information.

As a reminder, if you are submitting a doctor’s note for yourself (or for someone in your household whose medical condition makes you unable to work on campus), it needs to be submitted to Roxanne Robinson (rrrobins@callutheran.edu) by Fri., Nov. 13.

  • International Education Week: Cal Lutheran Celebration Moved to Spring 2021: International Education Week (IEW) is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. Traditionally Cal Lutheran celebrates IEW during the official national dates in November, however, for 2020 due to adjusted academic calendar, the Center for Global Engagement is postponing our campus IEW program - including the World Fair - until Spring 2021. We welcome faculty engagement for IEW next semester! Please keep an eye on the calendar and/or visit the CGE Events Website for updates.

  • Minutes from Nov. 3 Faculty Q&A Session: If you were unable to attend the last Faculty Q&A session, you can review the information here.

  • Card swipe: All faculty and staff now have card swipe access to all buildings on campus. You will still need to complete the daily health check form before coming to campus each day.

  • Student learning opportunity - Intersession is a new learning opportunity for traditional undergraduate students where all classes are held virtually over winter break.  Students can save up to 75% off the per-credit rate.  For information, invite your students to visit CalLutheran.edu/intersession.

  • All faculty are invited to submit items of request or concern to the Senate via the Petition Response Chart on the Faculty Senate & Assembly Blackboard page. (Adjunct Faculty see the Adjunct Faculty Connect Blackboard page.) These forms are anonymous unless you self identify.

  • Guest Authorization Process: Campus Compact & Health Check: As Cal Lutheran resumes some elements of on-site traditional operations, the Guest Authorization Process/Pre-Arrival Check-in is now available on the KNOW website. Campus offices reserve discretion to approve visitor(s) based on the parameters noted online, including health and safety guidelines. Individuals without campus-related business (e.g., Outside / Non-formal affinity groups seeking use of Cal Lutheran facilities, neighborhood members, etc.) are requested to refrain from use of the campus until guidelines change. The person hosting an approved guest is responsible for collecting a copy of the signed Campus Compact from the guest and reminding the guest that s/he must complete the Visitor Health Check Form the day of the planned visit. Any questions about the visitor’s policy or institution’s COVID-19 response can be addressed at coronavirus@callutheran.edu.

  • Academic Services has created a new Graduation Process page on the Registrar’s website. This has information about the degree conferrals, priority deadlines, and posting timelines. Additionally, there are details about the Degree Completion Agreement for seniors in the traditional undergraduate program. TUG Seniors received an email with this information on Sept. 21.
