New Training Sessions for Faculty: The Digital Learning Department will be offering on campus and online (via Zoom) training for faculty starting Mon., Nov. 30 through Fri., Jan. 15. Click here for more information and to RSVP. The trainings include:

  • Teaching in a Hybrid Flexible (HyFlex) / Split Classroom
  • Student Engagement: Using Active Learning Strategies to Engage Students in Zoom
  • Building Community Between Two Audiences (On-Ground and Remote Students)
  • Using Minimum Quality Matters (QM) Standards/Rubric in Building Your Spring Courses
  • How to be Successful in Blackboard and Zoom

 

Events

 

  • Most administrative offices will close at 3pm on Wed., Nov. 25, and be closed Thurs., Nov. 26 and Fri., Nov. 27, for the Thanksgiving holiday.
  • Thanksgiving break for traditional undergraduate students: Mon., Nov. 23 - Fri., Nov. 27. No classes.
     
  • NO University Chapel this week. Happy Thanksgiving!
     
  • NO Center for Teaching and Learning's Lunch Series this week.

  • Save the Date: 2021 Winter Faculty Retreat, Tues., Jan.19, 9am-12pm, via Zoom. All full-time and part-time faculty welcome!
     
  • IRB Reminder - There will be no IRB Committee activity during Winter Break, Dec. 24, 2020 through Jan. 1, 2021. Regular committee activity will resume on Mon., Jan. 4, 2021.
     
  • Minutes from Nov. 3 Faculty Q&A Session: If you were unable to attend the last Faculty Q&A session, you can review the information here.
     
  • Card swipe: All faculty and staff now have card swipe access to all buildings on campus. You will still need to complete the daily health check form before coming to campus each day.
     
  • Student learning opportunity - Intersession is a new learning opportunity for traditional undergraduate students where all classes are held virtually over winter break.  Students can save up to 75% off the per-credit rate.  For information, invite your students to visit CalLutheran.edu/intersession.
     
  • All faculty are invited to submit items of request or concern to the Senate via the Petition Response Chart on the Faculty Senate & Assembly Blackboard page. (Adjunct Faculty see the Adjunct Faculty Connect Blackboard page.) These forms are anonymous unless you self identify.
     
  • Academic Services has created a new Graduation Process page on the Registrar’s website. This has information about the degree conferrals, priority deadlines, and posting timelines. Additionally, there are details about the Degree Completion Agreement for seniors in the traditional undergraduate program. TUG Seniors received an email with this information on Sept. 21.
