- The Office of Sponsored Research and Projects is holding a Grant Writing Lab on Mon., Aug. 23 (for non-research proposals) and Tues., Aug. 24 (for research proposals) from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm. The workshop will focus on dissecting the RFP, learning the funder’s perspective, using your “reviewer” skills to critique the work of your colleagues, and receiving feedback from OSRP and your peers. - Travel to Conferences will continue to be limited next year, due to budgetary constraints. Pre-tenured faculty will be funded to attend a conference if they are presenting. Other conference travel will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. An approval process will be communicated shortly.
- Fifty and Better (FAB) Mid-Summer Lectures & Summer II Session: FAB is hosting a virtual Mid-Summer lecture series between sessions (late June-July)! Join us for lectures on the history of Wilshire Boulevard, The Big Lebowski and the legacy of the 1960s, an update on the Mars Rover mission, and more! Most lectures are $8 each, but a couple are free! These are open to all ages – we hope you will join us! Registration is now open.
FAB’s 4-week Summer II Session begins on July 26, and registration opens June 21! Courses will explore subjects such as the stories of those who “named names” during the infamous Hollywood Blacklist period, exhibitions that made art history, the great orchestral and choral conductors of the past and present from around the world, and more! Join us on Zoom for these stimulating courses. Individuals 50+ are welcome, please share with your friends and family! - Faculty Writing Groups Are you looking for a community to write with this summer? Need accountability or encouragement to keep you on track? Want feedback or revision suggestions from friendly peers? Need help recalibrating scholarship after this challenging year? Join one of our writing groups! The in-person “write together” group meets on campus Mondays at 11:00am. Or join us on zoom Tuesdays at 9:30am for a writing accountability group. - The Academic Affairs Policies and Practices for Spring 2021 will remain in effect through the summer. Pre-Covid policies will go back into effect in the fall.
