Announcements

  • Students’ Preferred Name: The student names on your course roster may not reflect what a student prefers that you use. You need to give all of your students an opportunity to privately provide you with their preferred name. Please do not read out first names without offering a private opportunity for students to give you this information.

  • New for Fall 2022: CTL Faculty Book Group Convos! CTL’s Lunch Series has evolved into 5 Book Groups featuring a variety of HE topics by celebrated authors including: Teaching to combat stressors, Black feminism, Active learning in the Sciences, Teaching beyond gender binary, and Teaching neurodiverse students. RSVP to learn more with Lorri Santamaría at lsantamaria@callutheran.edu in a virtual information session Wed., Aug. 31 or Thurs., Sept. 1 from 12:30-1:15pm.

  • Academic Difficulty Notices for Traditional Undergraduates: Save the date. The official reporting period for the Fall 2022 Academic Difficulty Notices (ADNs) is Mon., Sept. 19 through Fri., Oct 21. This is the University’s early warning system to identify students who may be struggling in their academics. Additional information can be found on www.callutheran.edu/adn.

  • Senior Citizen Class Audits: The university is reactivating its policy allowing senior citizens to attend classes this fall. As was the practice previously, the decision to allow a senior citizen to attend your class is entirely up to you. Senior citizens should have an approval form from Academic Services for you to sign. If you give approval, please direct them to return the form to our office. Please contact Maria Kohnke at kohnke@callutheran.edu if you have any questions.

  • Cal Lutheran’s Fifty and Better (FAB) Upcoming Fall Session: The Fifty and Better program’s Fall Session begins the week of Sept. 6!  Join them for six-week courses and two-week lectures on topics such as art of the Italian Baroque period, climate change, a modern history of Jerusalem, the music of Nashville, global economics, and more! Several flexible, discounted bundle deals are available. Visit their website for details and to register: www.callutheran.edu/fab

If interested during your sabbatical, email Executive Director & Dean of Harlaxton College, Dr. Holly Carter, at hc110@evansville.edu.

  • Teaching Vocational Exploration Seminar: Cal Lutheran can nominate one faculty member to be considered for a NetVUE "Teaching Vocational Exploration" Seminar which will take place June 12-16, 2023. Information can be found here.  Sixteen participants will be selected. One expectation of the seminar is to develop a new course, or to redesign an existing course, with greater focus on vocational exploration during the 2023-24 academic year. If you are interested, please contact Judy Beaulieu (jbeaulie@callutheran.edu) by Sept. 15.
