If you already work with numbers or keep financial details moving behind the scenes, the Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Financial Analysis can help you back up that experience with a degree. If you are new to the field, it gives you the foundation to begin with confidence.<\/p>\n<p>You&#8217;ll build skills in accounting, financial analysis, information systems, tax, auditing and ethics. Many already work with numbers as bookkeepers, accounts payable and receivable specialists, office managers who handle the finances and payroll professionals. They are ready to expand their working knowledge with a degree.<\/p>\n<p>Other students are entering the field for the first time. They are drawn to an industry where the work is steady and there are always interesting problems to solve.<\/p>\n<p>For students in California, the program also means faculty who know the local accounting and financial services landscape, and a network of instructors and classmates built right here. Students complete a minimum of 124 credits to graduate. At least 78 of those credits will be from accounting and financial analysis major courses. Out of these, at least 54 credits must be upper-division courses (these courses are identified by course numbers in the 300 and 400 ranges).<\/li>\n<li class=\"pb-1\">General education and other courses: The remaining credits can consist of general education courses, additional major courses if desired and any transferred credits.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr class=\"gray-hr\" \/>\n<div class=\"anchor-link\" id=\"career-outcomes\" style=\"display: block; clear: both\"><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"fw-bold\">Career Outcomes With a BS in Accounting and Financial Analysis<\/h2>\n<p>Accounting is a field with steady, lasting demand. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects employment of accountants and auditors to grow 6% over the next decade, double the national average, with a median salary of $81,680.<\/p>\n<p>Financial analysis offers a similar outlook, with even stronger pay. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 6% growth for financial analysts through 2034, faster than average, with a median salary of $101,910.<\/p>\n<p>The near-term picture is just as strong: more than 582,000 accounting jobs were posted nationwide over the past two years, including more than 63,500 in California, according to the labor database Lightcast. Of those national postings, 83% required a college degree and 66% required a bachelor&#8217;s degree or higher.<\/p>\n<p>Our students go on to work in public accounting firms, government agencies, corporate finance and tech. The full requirements are set by each state, so they vary depending on where you plan to be licensed.<\/p>\n<p>In California:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>You currently need a bachelor&#8217;s degree, 24 semester units in accounting subjects and 24 in business-related subjects to sit for the exam, with some additional coursework, including ethics units, required for the license itself.<\/li>\n<li>California is also moving to an updated set of rules that simplifies this, bringing the education required for the exam and the license into closer alignment and adding flexibility on the work-experience side.
