You have already taken the most important step by asking this question! Here are the next steps:

  1. Make appointments to meet with faculty

    The next step is to meet with faculty, to get to know their scholarly interests and to let them get to know you.  You may find that you share some interests and you’ll both get a chance to see if you may work well together.

  2. Meet with faculty

    Get to know their scholarly interests and let them get to know you

    During your meetings, ask about the faculty members' areas of interest and if they are currently working on any projects that could use your assistance. Don't be disappointed if they cannot plug you into a project right away. You may also ask about other faculty in your discipline or other disciplines.

If you do not have success with the above strategy, make an appointment with the Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship (OURCS) by e-mailing The Director may be able to help identify appropriate faculty members for you to approach.
