Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda in the Library

Dia de Los Muertos Ofrenda in the Library

Come to the Pearson Library to see one of the many Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) altars on campus, created to call to remembrance and invite loved ones who have passed. An altar, or ofrenda (offering), usually contains three levels—for Heaven, Earth, and the Underworld and represents the four elements earth, wind, fire, and water. The celebration takes from both ancient Mesoamerican and Catholic religious traditions. This year the altar in the Library is being installed by our Latinx Employee Group.
