AAPI Lecture Lunch

Since the 1960s, when Time Magazine depicted AAPI communities as model minorities doing well in this country, the AAPI community has carried the undue burden of being pitted against other minority communities. Over 50 groups and 100 languages fall under the umbrella of the AAPI label, and the label masks the suffering of many of the AAPI subgroups who are in similar situations with other underserved communities. As a result, the myth robs the AAPI community of needed investments and attention as well as solidarity with other communities of color.
