Life Outside the Classroom
From "Cosmic Bowling" to "Comedy Night" at The Need Coffeehouse, there are plenty of ways to unwind after class. Club Lu — organized for students by students — happens every Friday night.
And when you want to check out off-campus adventures, the Student Affairs Office sells half-price tickets to Magic Mountain and the latest release movies. Head to Los Angeles to catch a Broadway musical at the historic Pantages Theatre or go to a Lakers game — all at special subsidized ticket prices.
Watch a theatre performance. Or jump on stage and act.
There are plenty of ways to enjoy the arts at CLU. Listen to the choir, orchestra and wind ensemble play throughout the year. Or watch a mainstage theatre production. You can also visit the Kwan Fong Gallery of Art and Culture to see a variety of art exhibits by students as well as local and national artists. Of course, you could be part of the action and join any of these groups to share your artisitic talents with the CLU community.
Student government, a poetry slam, or hip hop dance.
You can do it all.
Academic and social clubs, service projects, and cultural outreach — CLU has plenty of opportunities for involvement and leadership. Student clubs include academic subjects such as French, art and philosophy. Or professional organizations in fields such as accounting and marketing. Sing in the choir or write for The Echo, our student newspaper. Interested in student government? Run for Student Senate and work on policies that affect student life. Or take a leadership role in issues affecting dorm life with the Residence Hall Association.
Get fit, stay fit. Play some sports or join a fitness group.
Maybe it's the weather.... Whatever the reason, CLU students are active. They bike. They snowboard. They play intramural football, basketball, soccer, softball and more, where the motto is "No pain, no free T-shirt."
For varsity athletes, we offer NCAA Division III basketball, football, soccer, volleyball, and more. Dedicated coaches encourage and inspire 11 men's and 11 women's varsity teams. Check them out at www.clusports.com.
Take a hike. On the Conejo Valley's beautiful trails, that is.
The hills around CLU beckon hikers and cyclists alike with hundreds of miles of awe-inspiring trails. Some students head into the nearby Santa Monica Mountains and hike through Big Sycamore Canyon — a trail recognized as one of the best in Southern California. Others choose to go to the nearby Ojai Valley. Sometimes it's the AVenture Club spearheading efforts, while other times it's just a few friends going out after class. Whatever the circumstance, opportunities abound near CLU for some serious trail exploration.
30 minutes to all the fun L.A. has to offer.
Leaping sharks and indoor skydiving? It's just an ordinary afternoon at Universal CityWalk, the ultimate entertainment destination where L.A. comes to kick back and have fun. Here, movie premieres and top restaurants stand shoulder-to-shoulder with hip clubs and shops, while the Gibson Amphitheatre offers the perfect venue for some amazing bands. Just a 30-minute drive from campus, Universal CityWalk is a place CLU students come to for a night of fun. And there's a lot more in L.A. waiting for you.
