Scandinavian Festival

Scandinavian Festival

The Scandinavian Festival provides affordable family fun along with food, entertainment and demonstrations highlighting the Nordic cultures of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland. Activities for children include crafts, drama and storytelling.

The festival begins with a colorful parade of flags featuring Scandinavian dignitaries and Old World costumes, and continues with music, dancing, demonstrations and lectures. Activities range from a soccer clinic to a Scandinavian worship service. Visitors can explore Viking and Sami villages, see exhibits about the Nobel and Kavli Prizes, and purchase Scandinavian handicrafts or a smörgåsbord of Nordic delicacies in the food court.

A Swedish-American professor and a Norwegian-American administrator started the festival 38 years ago to showcase Scandinavian culture and the CLU campus. The University was the dream of Scandinavian immigrants and was built on land provided by the son of Norwegian pioneers.

Admission is $7; free for children 11 and under.
