'The Lives of Others' (German)

In the early 1980s, Georg Dreyman (a successful dramatist) and his longtime companion Christa-Maria Sieland (a popular actress) are huge intellectual stars in the former East Germany, even though they secretly don't always toe the party line. One day, the Minister of Culture becomes interested in Christa, so a secret service agent named Wiesler is instructed to observe the couple, whose life fascinates him more and more.

Admission is free. The International Film Festival is organized by the Department of Languages and Cultures with support from Pearson Library.
