Fifty and Better Student/Learning is a Gift!

I have been taking FAB classes for over a year. I keep taking more FAB classes because of the high quality of the classes, the expertise and knowledge of the teachers, the responsiveness of the FAB staff to any questions or issues, and the great selection of classes. I appreciate that the classes are just 6 weeks – an opportunity to get into the subject, but also leave time for my many other activities. I greatly appreciate that the classes are held virtually. I would never have attended any in person. I live in Santa Monica and Thousand Oaks is too far to go for classes, given traffic, gas prices, time for commuting, etc. I appreciate Cal Lutheran offering affordable and high quality classes for older adults. I know the pandemic made it mandatory to offer classes virtually, it also was an opportunity for those of us living further away from Cal Lutheran – to attend these classes and continue learning. I really appreciate the responsiveness of staff, whenever I have had any questions or issues with registering, etc, etc. As a recently retired individual, I want to continue learning and engaging in subjects of interest to me and going deeper than my current knowledge. The educational opportunities through FAB have allowed me to do this. I know the importance of lifelong learning for one’s mental and physical health and psychological wellbeing – and these classes provide these experiences. I have loved the classes taught by Eleanor Schrader and Cary GInell. They are both superb lecturers, responsive to student questions and so knowledgeable in their respective fields. To have this quality of educational engagement, at affordable prices, is amazing! I feel so lucky that I found out about FAB by accident – when I received one of Eleanor Schrader’s e-newsletters and she listed the courses she is teaching. And then I found out about the other FAB classes, and I’m hooked. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. To be so engaged in learning, at this high level, in this chapter in my life, is truly a gift.
