The focus of Professor Coman's continuing research has been on assessment. Her work has resulted in publication of her writing on assessment. She is often asked to and does present results of her research and work at national and international conferences. She teaches courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Carol Coman has been appointed as a team member by WSCUS (formerly WASC). The teams of WSCUS review institutions as to maintenance or (in some cases) awards of accredited status and makes recommendations to the Commission.
Until recently, she has been faculty adviser for the CLU Accounting Association for over 20 years.
Professor Coman is currently faculty advisor/mentor for the President's Council on Honor and Integrity, a student run honor council and club on campus. She is also actively involved in the International Center for Academic Integrity, with a goal of fostering a culture of academic integrity at CLU and at other institutions.
She is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and maintains a current license and membership in the Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) She is also a Certified Financial Manager (CFM) with credentials from the ICMA. She maintains these designations by completing the required Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours, which include research and test success in "ethics."
