Kuntz was the inaugural General Manager of award winning NPR Affiliate KCLU radio from 1994-1996 housed on the campus of California Lutheran University. He put the radion station on the air and served as its Director of Technical Services from 1996-1997.
Kuntz has been the Director of Athletics at California Lutheran University from 2004 to Present. He oversees 20 CLU intercollegiate Division III programs and staff. In 2010, CLU athletics were recognized nationally as a fall sports top 25 program. During his tenure as Athletic Director Kuntz participated in the development of the Gilbert Sports and Fitnesss Center, Paulson Tennis Center, Samuelson Aquatics Center, Sparky Anderson Field and Ullman Stadium and William Rolland Stadium. He served as the Coordinator of Athletic Marketing for California Lutheran University Athletics from 1997-2004.
Holding United States Soccer Federation National A, B, C and Youth coaching licenses, Kuntz has been at the helm of the Kingsmen soccer program for more than 19 years and previously served as the head women's soccer coach for 11 years. He has led both the men's and women's teams to numerous championships. Under Kuntz the women's soccer program at CLU earned 159 wins, 8 consecutive SCIAC titles and 6 NCAA appearances. He was named NSCAA Far West Region Coach of the Year for women's soccer in 1996, 1997 and 1998.
He led the 1997 men's soccer team to its finest season in program history with a 16-3-3 record, an NCAA Division III West Regional championship and a seventh-place national finish. Under Kuntz, the men's soccer program has earned 197 wins, 6 SCIAC championships and 3 NCAA appearances. He has served on both NCAA and NSCAA West region ranking advisory committees for men's and women's soccer. He was the chair of the West Region NSCAA senior women's All American committee and chair of the NCAA West Region championship committee.
He has coached youth soccer teams which traveled to Germany and Mexico City and taught in both the Arizona Youth Soccer Association and the California Youth Soccer Association coaches education programs.
He coached two U-19 girls teams to CYSA-S state championships, coached high school soccer for 8 years in Arizona winning the Fiesta Bowl soccer championship in 1984 and has directed and coached in soccer camps throughout the Southwest for more than 27 years. He has also worked with the Olympic Development Programs in Arizona and California.
Dan Kuntz is a 1984 graduate of Arizona State University with a bachelor's degree in telecommunications/broadcast station management. He also holds a master's degree in educational technology and a Doctorage in Higher Education Leadership from California Lutheran University.
