Position TitleFinancial Aid Systems Specialist - OPEN TO INTERNAL CANDIDATES ONLY (Closing @5pm on 11/14/12)
Salary ($US) and BenefitsHiring Range: $43,760 - $48,000
Basic FunctionUnder the direction of the Director of Financial Aid and the purview of the Undergraduate Enrollment Systems Manager, provides database/report development and manages system-related processes for end-users of Financial Aid systems.
Representative DutiesData Management:
Assist in developing Datatel/Informer functionality required to promote department objectives.
Assist end-users with Datatel/Informer-related issues and questions
Assist in enrollment market research through statistical analysis and predictive modeling techniques.
Provide simple- and medium-complexity queries and reports as requested.
Utilize supporting software to supplement functionality of Datatel/Informer
Diagnose systems processing problems affecting operations and recommend solutions
Serve as a liaison between Financial Aid and ISS to enhance Datatel/Informer functionality for the Financial Aid Office.
Coordinate the annual year set-up and other cyclical database processes with ISS
Assist in training end-users in proper use of Financial Aid databases, reporting tools and relevant areas of Datatel/Informer.
Assist requests from other campus offices when requested to supply Financial Aid-related reports, surveys and data and assist office with the completion of reporting requirements and audits
Attend Financial Aid staff meetings and serve on AIS Committee
Responsible for initial reconciliation of all funding sources
Perform related duties as assigned
Knowledge OfWorking knowledge of enterprise and relational database systems
Query language of the administrative system (Datatel/Informer’s Colleague)
Solid understanding of SQL and/or Visual Basic programming language
Highly proficient English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary
Telephone techniques and etiquette
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
Automated administrative systems, including but not limited to a PC-based computer, and Datatel/Informer
Technical aspects of financial aid and enrollment processes and practices
Statistics and statistical methods
Systems and data manipulation and analysis
Critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Ability ToDemonstrate programming skills
Utilize Datatel/Informer and Microsoft Office products
Work independently on short-term tasks as well as collaborate with small groups

Investigate and resolve system-related technical problems and issues

Coordinate tasks to address relevant technical issues and implement derived solutions as requested
Provide query and report generation support to Financial Aid staff
Support and participate in the implementation of new software applications, modules and functionality
Communicate end-user needs with appropriate technical specificity to supervisor and ISS

Education and ExperienceAny combination equivalent to: Bachelor’s degree preferred, experience with enterprise and relational database systems, data/report analysis, customer service experience. Working knowledge of Datatel/Informer preferred.
Office environment, constant interruptions, fast-paced, deadline driven, confidentiality required.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard
