(THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Oct. 19, 2016) The California Lutheran University Choir and Women’s Chorale will present a concert of diverse music at the Homecoming Concert on Sunday, Oct. 30.

The performance will begin at 2 p.m. in Samuelson Chapel on the Thousand Oaks campus.

The choral ensembles will sing works by a variety of composers. The Women’s Chorale will perform “Psalm 150” by Benjamin Britten along with works by J.S. Bach, Joan Szymko and Moira Smiley. The Cal Lutheran Choir will perform music by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Francis Poulenc as well as lighter fare including Craig Hella Johnson’s arrangement of “I Love You/What a Wonderful World” and a show-stopping adaptation of “I Will Rise” by contemporary Christian artist Chris Tomlin.

The new members of the Kingsmen and Regals Quartets will also perform.

Wyant Morton, director of choral activities at Cal Lutheran, will conduct. This year marks Morton’s 25th on the Cal Lutheran faculty. The Thousand Oaks resident also conducts Areté Vocal Ensemble, the professional group he founded at Cal Lutheran, and maintains an active schedule as a guest conductor, clinician and adjudicator throughout the United States and Canada.

The Cal Lutheran Choir is the university’s premier choral ensemble. While dedicated to performing works that represent the university’s Lutheran heritage, it also embraces innovative new music and pieces expressing multicultural perspectives.

The Women’s Chorale comprises primarily freshmen and sophomores. The ensemble draws its repertoire from the wealth of choral music for female voices across historical periods.

Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
