PASADENA, Calif. – Two days after suffering just their second loss in Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play during the 2013 campaign, the Cal Lutheran women’s basketball team returned to the hardwood, beginning a new streak, as the Regals earned a 58-40 victory this evening at the Braun Athletic Center on the campus of Caltech.
After four scoreless minutes of play Alex Nelson put the first crooked number on the board and sparked a 17-0 run, in which CLU was 8-for-14 shooting, for the Regals. Caltech would net their first points of the night at the 8:08 mark on a long three-pointer from Stephanie Wong who finished with a game-high 19.
CLU went on to control the pace of the contest, opening a 36-17 lead at the intermission behind 14 points on 6-for-8 shooting from Channing Fleischman who led the Regals with 17 after playing limited minutes in the second half.
On a night when 12 different CLU players stepped out on the court, nine of them score at least a point. Erica Whitely finished with nine and Rachel Heagy tallied eight. Keeley Anderson was 2-for-2 with both coming from three-point range. Taylor Autry was also perfect from the field with a three-pointer of her own.
