Alternative Spring Break '12

Applications are now closed

Travel during spring break and experience a new culture... Serving on an ASB is a unique way to offer your time and skills-- and a lot of fun!

This year we will be traveling to the Dominican Republic through Appleseed Expeditions.

Quick Facts on the Trip:

March 31- April 7, 2012 (8 days).

Travel outside of the US to learn about a new culture and help provide a sustainable service project that will help the community long after we leave.

Trip cost is approximately $1700, all expenses included.

Airfare is included this year!

We have grants you can apply for to help reduce your costs- there is more information below, including the application and due dates...

We have plenty of ideas on how to fundraise-- CLU students have done this creatively and earned their whole trip cost with a little work. Click here to see our list of fundraising ideas!
We also have a fundraising letter we've drafted about the trip that you are welcome to include in materials that you may send to family and friends.

There are plenty of concerns when traveling abroad in a developing nation, but we take many safety precautions before and during the trip. Please visit the participant info page (link at the top of this page) under "Travel Precautions" to see eight of the measures we take to ensure a very safe experience abroad.

The Alternative Break Student Leaders act as a liaison to the host site, and coordinate both pre- and post-break activities.  You and your co-leader will coordinate aspects of the trip including reflection activities, nighttime activities if applicable, and assist with on-site coordination as necessary. You may also be requested to assist with other duties as assigned. You will have staff supervisors (CSC Coordinator and Campus Pastor) who will support you along the way and assist as needed. Student Leaders will receive a $150 discount on their trip and are still eligible to apply for a grant.
