"We have clubs on campus for many different faiths. We provide six or seven different kinds of worship services to fit everyone's needs. Everyone, of every faith, is welcome to be here, practice here and learn here."

Samuelson Chapel

Listen and subscribe to the University Chapel Podcast!

All are welcome! Join in a time of reflection in the middle of a busy week. Come for Chapel and stay for snacks and conversation after the service. Enjoy them with us, or on your way to class.

Ever wonder what is on God's short list for us? Find out. Micah 6: 8 give us clues. Do. Love. Walk.

"The Short List" . . . it's our theme for the Fall 2009 Chapel series.

Weekly, the CLU community gathers to celebrate the presence of God among us. Preachers are often selected from among the students, faculty, and staff community. Music ranges from our fabulous organ to lively contemporary sounds.

Common Ground

Wednesday evenings, 9:11pm

Samuelson Chapel Narthex

Late night communion with student-led devotions. The cross is over us. The ground is level.

On Wednesday evenings the narthex of the Samuelson Chapel is filled with excitment as students lead a devotional and communion-centered, guitar-driven worship. This serves as a great midweek moment to lay down your cares, sing, pray, and reflect.

Area Houses of Worship

In addition to campus worship, houses of worship representing many different denominations and faiths are within an easy commute from Cal Lutheran's campus to help you find a house of worship where you feel at home. Come to the Campus Ministry office to get a complete listing of the area's houses of worship.

Religious Clubs and Organizations

All religious organizations on campus are approved by Student Life. To learn more about the process of becoming a recognized club or organization, visit the Clubs and Organizations website:

Mission Trips

Want to do something more with your vacation? Alternative Spring Breaks are an exciting way to spend a week with fellow students, staff, and alumni, serving and learning and working to build communities.

Biloxi Boomerang - January 8-16, 2009

Remember Hurricane Katrina? So do we. Nature can disconnect a community. Be a part of the reconnection. Campus Ministry and the Community Service Center have sponsored Biloxi Bommerang trips to the Gulf Coast since 2006. Spend nine days working with Project REHAB rebuilding homes in Biloxi, Mississippi.

Alternative Spring Break Trip - March 7-15, 2009

Each year Campus Ministry and the Community Service Center organize an Alternative Spring Break trip for CLU students and alums. The trips are a great way to travel, experience a new culture, and serve others.

Meet the Campus Ministry Staff

An open door.

The Office of Campus Ministry welcomes you!

Pastors Scott and Melissa Maxwell-Doherty are eager to meet you. They desire to provide worship that is rich, relevant, and sometimes challenging. They are available for discussion about spiritual, vocational, and relational concerns. You might also get your skateboard fixed or learn how to knit, too.

Mark Holmstrom is the Coordinator of Chapel Music and the University Organist. Mark is gifted in a variety of musical styles and has a knack for matching the theme of worship with music that touches the heart. He also knows and uses Facebook better than anyone in our office. Yes, we are all on Facebook . . .

Linda C. Boberg, the Campus Ministry Administrative Assisant, recently earned her Master's degree in counseling and guidance from CLU. She delights in welcoming each student that enters the office! Her hope is to make the office and the Chapel a welcoming place.
